For
over 15 years, women faculty and staff from UNC Charlotte have
been attending the
BRIDGES Leadership for Women
Program held in Chapel Hill every fall.
Presently, we have about 25 graduates of the BRIDGES
program on this campus, important people in many
academic and administrative departments.
Women are selected for this prestigious program by the
BRIDGES Executive Board in Chapel Hill every spring
after completing a BRIDGES application and going
through an on-campus review.
The UNC
Charlotte Office of Academic Affairs
typically sponsors two
candidates for the fall session. To apply, please
forward responses to the following items to Mary Pat
Young
(mpyoung@uncc.edu) :
1) Briefly describe your responsibilities and
supervisory experience.
2) Why do you want to participate in BRIDGES?
3) List other leadership and management programs you
have attended and their dates.
The UNC Charlotte deadline for applications
is typically at the
beginning of March every year; the
BRIDGES Executive Board deadline is typically
at the
beginning of May. Official
deadlines will be announced at a later date.
The program, designed for women who seek to
gain or to strengthen their academic leadership capabilities, is
organized into four weekend sessions beginning on Friday at noon and
ending on Saturday afternoon.
All sessions
are held in Chapel Hill, NC.
Recent UNC
Charlotte graduates of the BRIDGES program
are: Cathy Blat (Advisor, College of
Engineering); Janet Daniel (OASES); Susan Furr
(Chair, Department of Counseling); Susan Gardner (Associate Professor,
Department of English); Tina McEntire (Director, Admissions); Jane Neese
(Associate Dean, School of Nursing); Charlynn Ross (Director, University
Center for Academic Excellence); and Diane Zablotsky (College of Liberal
Arts and Sciences), who currently serves on the Executive Board. |
