Graduate Council.
Faculty Governance
Program
Assistant
drafts a memorandum notifying the College
Dean that the proposal has
been approved. A copy of the memorandum is posted
on the Academic Affairs
web pages
under "Faculty Governance Course and Curriculum Approvals"
(sorted by college) and is sent, via listserv, to
faculty and staff at the University who need to be
informed of the approval (e.g., department chair,
advisors, Office of the Registrar,
University Catalog,
etc.)

Long Signature Sheet and Outline
1) The
department originating the proposal should
initiate consultation with the library and other
affected departments, at the time the proposal is
being drafted. The library reference staff will
provide an evaluation of library holdings within two
weeks.
Note: In the case
of interdisciplinary proposals, one department must
assume responsibility for ensuring that a completed
Consultation on Library
Holdings
is included in the proposal.
Proposals missing the completed form will be
returned to the originating department.
2)
Person originating the proposal
forwards the proposal and

Sheet to the
Department Chair for approval.
3 )
Department Chair signs and dates the
Long
Signature
Sheet (endorses) and forwards the
materials to the Chair of the College Curriculum
Committee.
4)
Chair of the College Curriculum
Committee endorses the proposal and forwards it
to the Chair of the College Faculty.
Note: For proposals
related to teacher education, the College Curriculum Committee Chair must first send the
proposal to the Teacher Education Committee
for endorsement before forwarding it to the Chair of
the College Faculty.
5)
Chair of the College Faculty endorses
and forwards the proposal to the College Dean of the
originating College.
6)
Person originating the
proposal collects the proposal and the
Long Signature
Sheet from the College Dean and forwards
them
to the
Faculty Governance
Program
Assistant in the Office of
Academic Affairs.
7)
The Faculty Governance
Program Assistant routes
the proposal to either the
Chair of the
Undergraduate Course and Curriculum Committee (UCCC),
for undergraduate courses or the
Chair of the
Graduate Council
for graduate courses.
Note:
Proposals related to both undergraduate and
graduate courses (i.e., courses co-listed at both
levels) must be sent to both.

Chair of the Undergraduate Course and
Curriculum Committee and/or Graduate Council
endorses and returns the proposal to the Faculty
Governance Program Assistant.
Note: If revisions
are required for approval, the Graduate Council or UCCC Chair will directly contact the originating
Department’s Chair.
9)
Proposals are placed on the
Consent Calendar
and
Faculty Council members
are given two weeks in
which to object to a proposal. If no objection
is raised, the proposal is considered approved for
implementation.
10).
Faculty Governance
Program Assistant drafts a
memo to the College Dean on proposal
approval. A copy of the memo is posted on the
Academic Affairs web pages
under "Faculty Governance Course and Curriculum
Approvals" and is sent via
email to faculty and staff affected by the changes
(department
chair,
advisors, Office of the Registrar,
University Catalog, etc.). |
