IMPORTANT NOTE FOR NEW FACULTY MEMBERS:

Federal law requires employers to verify the eligibility of each employee to work in the United States, to attest they have seen documentary proof of eligibility, and to maintain records of such attestation.

The University therefore requires all newly hired EPA Faculty and EPA Staff to visit Humans Resources to complete and sign the USCIS Form I-9 by the third (3rd) day of employment. During the initial employment processing in the Human Resources Department, please have your new employee bring all necessary forms of identification to successfully fulfill this federally-mandated obligation.  Please click here for the documents necessary for Employment Eligibility Verification.

Individuals who do not provide acceptable documentation within three days of beginning employment are not allowed to return to work until the documentation is recorded.

PLEASE NOTE:  Listed below are additional situations why I-9s would have to be completed by previously employed persons:

  • Anyone employed prior to 1986 (prior to I-9s being required) and has a break in service, will have to complete an I-9 if re-employed.
  • Anyone who has had a continuous break in service for 3 years or longer will have to complete another I-9.

Thanks so much for your help with this federally-mandated process.
