Women's Studies is an academic pursuit devoted to the collection of information and the development of theories about women's roles and contributions to society. The goal of the Women's Studies Program is to provide an educational program that examines genderrelated issues across cultures and across disciplines. The Program offers courses in Women's Studies and presents lectures and conferences on gender issues in business, the humanities, the sciences and the social sciences.

The minor in Women's Studies is designed to allow students to pursue an interdisciplinary and multicultural study of women's experience and contributions while fulfilling the academic requirements for one of the approved University degree programs.

WOMEN'S STUDIES MINOR

The Women's Studies minor, as well as each individual Women's Studies course, is open to all students at UNC Charlotte. Students seeking the minor will plan their program with their departmental advisers and with the Women's Studies Coordinator. They must fulfill the general degree requirements and requirements for their selected major. In addition, they must complete a minimum of 21 hours of courses appropriate for the Women's Studies minor, including WMST 1101 (Introduction to Women's Studies), 3201 (Feminist Thought) and 4601 (Senior Colloquium). Other courses are offered in established departments of the University. Any hours offered for the Women's Studies minor may also be counted toward major and general degree requirements. A maximum of nine credit hours may be approved from any one department. In order to qualify for the Women's Studies minor, students must have at least a 2.0 grade point average in courses taken for the minor.
